"Gasmantle" Takes To The Air Again

After a year of tender loving care and a rebuild of its VW1834cc engine (and I thought it was immaculate when he bought it!!) Robin Vince rolled out G-ASML in July at Romney Street near Brands Hatch in Kent, where it's first post-fettling flight was one of the highlights of the Saturday evening of the two day Auster and vintage aeroplane fly-in at the beautiful private airstrip. (Robin's wife, Jan's curry was the other highlight!).

"Al Mathey did my Permit test flight at about 7.30 pm and declared Gasmantle to be a very pleasant aircraft to fly with good performance and handling.  He said that, in his opinion, it is much nicer than any Cub" said a delighted Robin. "In addition to being a qualified test pilot Al is also an ATPL with thousands of hours and a vast number of types in his log book so I rather value his views."

By now, "Gasmantle" will have her new permit to fly from the PFA. All Robin needs now is a break in the weather in order to enjoy her!
